Afternoon all,
Just had a few people interested in my new Ethernet wiring and i thought i would share what I’m doing and where its all from etc.
Things i have already;
- 4RU data cabinet (got this for$40 from an auction out at waikerie)
- patch panel (included with above)
- 16 port switch (included with above)
- Ethernet cables (mainly for patching)
- lots of pcs.
Things i bought from ebay and other dealers:
- 4x Cat6 couplers Female to female ($4.90 each {same guy as below})
- 2x quad wall plates +4x couplers (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120392607429) $21.80 each + $17 registered shipping with above extra couplers.
- 8 long Cat6 Ethernet cables.$13-18 each
Anyway lets get straight to business.
You get your wall plate (i have a 4 port) and its like Lego just clicks together.
So your thinking yeah yeah seen one i have seen them all but…
That’s the rear, its got Ethernet ports.. what the?
Yes its awesome i know. I can now buy pre made cables and just plug them in and go.
So yeah you guys get the idea. Now for another show and tell with the same Cat6 couplers.
My stock standard 5E patch panel.
Pop the front off and pop out the old skool plugs.
Pop in the couplers.
and shazam look at that stock wall plate with couplers.
Pop the patch cover on and your all good to roll.
Anyway i know its nothing too exciting (especially for this blogs first post) but hopefully someone will find it interesting.
