I wanted to make something cool and unique. I then came to the crazy idea of making a logo that could actually be etched onto a PCB board and be used.<\/p>\n<p>I first had to decide on a schematic, remembering my childhood I remember making a simple transistor based flashing unit. After some\u00a0searching\u00a0I found the exact schematic I was thinking about:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"The Flasher by Phebe Rendulic, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pheebsyeahbaby\/2390102103\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2221\/2390102103_4923f7c3a6.jpg\" alt=\"The Flasher\" width=\"500\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis was almost exactly what i had in mind, but I thought I could integrate a Trimpot into the mix, to not only make the item more fun but to give it a little bit more complexity. Generated in 0.00643 seconds -->\n\n<p>From here I designed the\u00a0Halloween\u00a0graphic using the lines as the circuit, and ended up with:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/halloweenlogo_trans.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-436\" title=\"halloweenlogo_trans\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/halloweenlogo_trans.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/halloweenlogo_trans.png 550w, http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/halloweenlogo_trans-288x209.png 288w, http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/halloweenlogo_trans-494x359.png 494w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>TO ETCH I PRINTED AT 10cm HIGH BY 7.27cm WIDE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FOR SIMPLE\u00a0CORRECT\u00a0SIZE ETCHING PRINT\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l8ter.com\/halloweenlogo_easyprint.bmp\">THIS BMP<\/a>\u00a0FROM PAINT, (in page setup unselect scaling, and select 100% of normal size)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The large squares are the pads for the items to be soldered onto, they are a tad larger then normal to make soldering easy and quick for beginners.\u00a0Something\u00a0else to note is it\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0have through holes so you surface mount the components to the board (will show this in more detail later on. Now onto soldering the parts onto the board. As I didnt want to do holes for the components I decided I would just surface mount components (Which is even a standard {Thx Simon}).
